Sentinel-2 catches wildfires
Title: Sentinel-2 catches wildfires
The Copernicus Sentinel-2B satellite caught these views of the spectacular wildfires blazing in Siberia on 9 May 2018. The multispectral imager on board the satellite provides us with RGB (natural colour) and SWIR (enhanced infrared) views of the event. In the natural colour image we can see the extensive smoke plumes from the fires, while the infrared image allows us to detect the fires beneath.
