June marks the start of winter in Australia, but this year strong winds and bitter temperatures have hit the east coast, bringing unexpected snowfall. This image, captured on 4 June by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission, shows the unusual layer of snow over the Southern Tablelands, southwest of Sydney.
We are glad to inform CryoSat data users that the new Ice Baseline D processors are operational and associated products are now available on the Science Server.

Most of us probably wouldn't think of describing snow in terms of its grain size. However, grain size is fundamental to the amount of sunlight that snow reflects back into space - its albedo. With both snow and albedo part of the climate system, scientists are applying a novel analytical theory to Copernicus Sentinel-3 data and shedding new light on Greenland's changing albedo.

With ESA's Space19+ Ministerial Council meeting set for November, a new satellite mission called TRUTHS will be added to the list of missions to be financed in the Earth Observation Earth Watch programme.
The European Space Agency (ESA), in cooperation with the Technical University of Crete, is organising an Advanced Ocean Synergy Training Course devoted to training the next generation of Earth Observation scientists to exploit data from ESA and Third Party Mission instruments for ocean science and application development (e.g. with the Copernicus Sentinels).
The deadline for applications is: 1 September 2019
The eighth Swarm Data Quality Workshop was held at ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) from 8 to 12 October 2018. This workshop was instrumental in addressing the processing and use of Swarm data and defining a road map for the future.

Due to a scheduled maintenance at JAXA, the dissemination of new GOSAT products to the ESA repository for the GOSAT data will be suspended on Monday 27 May 2019 from 04:00 to 11:00 CEST.
The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising an Advanced Training Course on Land Remote Sensing, which will focus on agriculture. The course will be held at Louvain-la-Neuve, in Belgium, from 16 to 20 September 2019.
Applications are open until 30 June.
ESA invites EO data users to provide feedback on their experience with, and future needs for data that ESA offers.
