This workshop, hosted in The Hague, Netherlands, intends to explore the variety of data sources available and provide a common forum for institutional, scientific and commercial users.

HAPS4ESA workshop - Abstract Submission Extended

This is a gentle reminder that the European Space Agency is organising a workshop on High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) to identify needs, opportunities and criticalities for the preparation of a potential ESA programme for HAPS.

The workshop will take place from 09 to 10 October 2017 in ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Note that the deadline for submission of presentation abstracts has been extended to 16 June 2017.

ESA Training Course on Radar and Optical Remote Sensing

European Space Agency (ESA), Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania and the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology recently announced the call for applications for the ESA Training Course on Radar and Optical Remote Sensing which will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 03 to 07 July 2017.


Initially intended for participants from the European Cooperating States (ECS) and Malta, the scope of the course has now been enlarged to qualified applicants from ESA Member States, and its application deadline extended to 31 May 2017.

SMOS brings Mediterranean salinity into focus

ESA's SMOS mission maps variations in soil moisture and salt in the surface waters of the open oceans. When the satellite was designed, it was not envisaged that it would be able to measure salinity in smaller seas like the Mediterranean, but SMOS has again surpassed expectations.
