BEAM 1.1 available

The Basic ERS & Envisat (A)ATSR and Meris Toolbox (BEAM) is a collection of executable tools and an application programming interface (API) which has been developed to facilitate the utilisation, viewing and processing of ESA MERIS, (A)ATSR and ASAR data.

Envisat Validation Workshop (Frascati, Italy, 9-13 December 2002)

The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising a workshop in Frascati from 9 to 13 December 2002 to review the first results of the validation of the geophysical data products from its environmental satellite Envisat.

New version of DESCW

Some of the new features of DESCW v.4.37 are ERS-2 Doppler Centroid evaluation added in the Interferometric Window and Terra/MODIS, Landsat 7 and ERS-2 visibility extended.

Images of Floods in Northern Europe (Prague and Dresden)

Heavy rains were causing major floods in Northern Europe. Two images have been acquired, one from the ERS-2 satellite, with the SAR instrument (16 August 2002) and the other from the ENVISAT satellite, with the ASAR instrument (19 August 2002). Visit the Earth Watching more news.

ENVISAT Commissioning Status

The ENVISAT spacecraft with all instruments performs well with stable performances.The start of the data delivery to the Cal/Val PIs has been delayed by an instability of various elements of the ground segment, which in turn require extensive manual procedures and lead to a lower throughput than expected in the end-to-end chain of processing, data distribution and handling of requests in general. These difficulties are currently being dealt with and the data delivery to Validation PIs will start by mid August 2002.
