ESA Earth Observation Φ-week 2019 deadline extended

As announced earlier this year, the European Space Agency (ESA) is organising a Phi-week event at ESA/ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) from 09 to 13 September 2019.

The deadline for abstract submission has been extended until 17 May 2019.

GOCE EGG L1b reprocessing algorithm description available

The description of the algorithms used for the reprocessing of the GOCE EGG L1b data is now published and available for download.

CryoSat Ocean Baseline C reprocessed data from 2011 available

We are glad to inform the CryoSat scientific community that the reprocessed CryoSat Ocean Baseline C data for all of 2011 has been published on the Science Server and is available for download.

New CryoSat Roll Campaign

16 April 2019

A CryoSat roll campaign is scheduled on 25 April 2019, from 03:29:00 to 06:50:10 UTC and from 16:01:00 to 19:06:10 UTC. SIRAL instrument routine planning will be suspended and data gaps are possible. NRT users will be most affected.

SMOS data dissemination maintenance - 16 April 2019

Due to a scheduled software maintenance on 16 April 2019 from 09:30 to 11:30 CEST, the ingestion of new SMOS products on the ESA SMOS online dissemination service will be delayed until the maintenance is completed.

Glaciers lose nine trillion tonnes of ice in half a century

When we think of climate change, one of the first things to come to mind is melting polar ice. However, ice loss isn't just restricted to the polar regions. According to research published today, glaciers around the world have lost well over 9000 gigatonnes (nine trillion tonnes) of ice since 1961, raising sea level by 27 mm.

ERS and Envisat (A)SAR data dissemination - maintenance 10 April 2019
