The 4th ESA EARSeL CNR School 'Remote Sensing for Forest Fires' will take place from 30 September to 1 October 2019 at ESA/ESRIN, Frascati, Italy. The purpose of this training course is to disseminate and discuss research methods and technologies of active and passive Earth Observation for applications related to forest fires.

A bright red twin-engined aircraft, equipped with ultra-high-resolution thermal imaging technology has been scouring the agricultural heartlands of Europe this summer. It was no search and rescue exercise, but an initial step towards building a proposed new satellite system capable of recording the temperature of Earth's skin in intricate detail.

Due to a scheduled maintenance, access to the OADS-OTF instance providing access to the ERS and Envisat (A)SAR data collections will be unavailable on Wednesday 24 July, from 07:00 to 10:30 CEST.
A software maintenance activity affecting the On-The-Fly (OTF) ALOS PALSAR and Third Party Missions (TPM) online dissemination services has been planned on Tuesday 23 July 2019.
The data gap for the Swarm Alpha satellite between 10 and 12 June 2019 (see news published on 17 June 2019) has now been partially recovered.
