Aeolus AO CAL/VAL call reopening
09 March 2018
ESA is pleased to announce the reopening of the Announcement of Opportunity (AO) CAL/VAL Call for the Aeolus wind lidar mission.
The Aeolus satellite, developed by ESA in the framework of its Earth Explorer Missions, will provide global observations of wind profiles from space, along with information on aerosols and clouds. The Aeolus mission will not only advance our understanding of atmospheric dynamics, but will also provide much needed information to improve weather forecasts. This state-of-the-art mission will also contribute to climate research. The mission is scheduled to be launched in August 2018 and will provide over 3 years of data to the user community.
Please note that proposals submitted to the earlier Aeolus AO CAL/VAL delta-call in 2014 are still valid and do not need to be resubmitted. This AO CAL/VAL call reopening will remain open until the end of the Mission lifetime, and is intended to give new teams the opportunity to join the Aeolus CAL/VAL team.
