Swarm data access simplified

In line with the ESA Earth Observation Data Policy, all validated Swarm Level 1b and Level 2 products are now freely accessible to all users via anonymous FTP. 

Earth Observation data distribution services improvement

ESA has started a process to improve the Earth Observation data distribution services, aiming at facilitating access to data and information for the end users, initially by shortening the access path and reviewing authentication and authorisation processes.

Swarm Alpha: VFM data gap from 02 to 03 June 2018

Due to an anomaly that occurred on the VFM (Vector Field Magnetometer) on board Swarm Alpha, the VFM science data (at 50 Hz rate) was not received from 02 June 2018 at 09:52 UTC to 03 June 2018 at 09:14:34 UTC.

Swarm Charlie: Telemetry data gap on 30 May 2018

An anomalous variation in the Inter Boresight Angle (IBA) for Camera Head Unit (CHU) pairs A-C and B-C has been observed for Swarm Charlie from 07 May 2018 at 09:34 UTC.

An EFI TII gain map calibration was performed on the Swarm Charlie satellite on 28 February 2018. The instrument was in calibration mode for two orbits.

Collision avoidance manoeuvre on Swarm Bravo on 16 April 2018

An orbit collision avoidance manoeuvre was performed on Swarm Bravo on 16 April 2018 at 16:10 UTC for a duration of 96 secomds equivalent to a Delta V = 2 cm/s.

Swarm Charlie: VFM data gap from 13 to 16 April 2018

Due to an anomaly that occurred on the VFM (Vector Field Magnetometer) on board Swarm Charlie, the VFM science data (at 50 Hz rate) was not received from 13/04/2018 19:18 UTC to 16/04/2018 09:21 UTC.

New Swarm Level 2 magnetic field models released

The first models of the fourth release of Swarm magnetic field models are now available to users. The new models are based on improved Swarm magnetometer data (MAGx_LR_1B data products, baseline 05, version 03), covering the period from launch to the end of 2017, i.e. one additional year in comparison to the previous release.

Extended coverage of the Swarm 2 Hz EFI LP extended dataset

We would like to inform the Swarm users that the 2 Hz Langmuir Probes extended dataset coverage has been increased in the ESA FTP server. The time coverage will be updated on a daily basis. Data now cover the time interval from 02 December 2013 to the current date - 14 days for all Swarm spacecraft.

Improved version of the Swarm 16 Hz faceplate dataset (v.0201) now available

We are pleased to inform the Swarm users that an improved version of the Swarm 16 Hz faceplate density dataset (Product Baseline and File Counter 0201) is now available in the /Advanced/Plasma_Data/16_Hz_Faceplate_plasma_density folder on the Swarm FTP server.

Extended coverage of the Swarm 2 Hz EFI LP extended dataset for all spacecraft

We would like to inform the Swarm users that the 2 Hz Langmuir Probes extended dataset coverage has been increased in the ESA FTP server. The data now cover the time interval from 02 December 2013 to 11 December 2017 for all Swarm spacecraft.

EFI LP probes on Swarm C both set to high gain during TII inactive periods

We inform the Swarm users that starting from 02 October 2017, both EFI Langmuir Probes (LPs) on Swarm C are systematically set to high gain during EFI TII inactive periods.

Improved version of the Swarm MAGx_LR_1B data (v.0503) now available

We are pleased to inform the Swarm users that an improved version of the MAGx_LR_1B products (Product Baseline and File Counter 0503) is now available in the "Advanced" folder of the ESA FTP server.

Extension of Swarm 2 Hz TII Cross-Track data flow dataset

We inform users that the 2 Hz TII Cross-Track data flow dataset has been extended. The data now covers 01 December 2015 to 29 April 2017 for the A and B satellites.

New Swarm acceleration and thermosphere density data released

24 November 2017

We are pleased to announce the new release of non-gravitational acceleration and thermosphere neutral density data, which were derived from the measurements of the GPS receiver. The newly released data cover the period covering the start of the mission until 19 July 2014. Hence, the available time series is now complete until 31 August 2017 for all three Swarm satellites.

ESA Member States approve Swarm extension

Timely placed a few days in advance of Swarm's fourth anniversary in space, ESA Member States participating to the Earth Observation Envelope Programme have given a nice birthday present to our mission.

Swarm MAGx_LR_1B dataset (version 0502) has been extended
