EGU General Assembly 2018
Between 08 and 13 April 2018, the European Geophysics Union (EGU) will hold its annual General Assembly meeting, a large forum for researchers in all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. Last year's edition attracted an impressive 14,496 participants from 107 countries, many under the age of 35.
As always, the EGU assembly is hosted in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria. This August 2017 image at 100 m resolution clearly depicts the city in grey, split in two by the mighty and meandering Danube River (dark blue).
The Austrian capital boasts a long history in music and architecture, renowned as an international conference venue and as a major centre for science and IT.
