8 September 2003 - 12 September 2003
The 2nd workshop on Coastal and Marine Applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar was held in Svalbard Norway on 8-12 September 2003. This conference was focused on providing an overview of the tools now available within the international community for utilizing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems to characterize the marine environment. Applications were specifically focused on wind, waves, sea ice, and currents.
14 January 2003 - 16 January 2003
The European Space Agency has awarded, in the framework of the General Studies Programme, two studies on the benefits of SAR Polarimetry and Polarimetric Interferometry (POL-inSAR) for applications development. The successful launch of the Envisat ASAR in March 2002 is demonstrating the interest of multipolarisation for new applications development. In this context, the POL-INSAR Workshop was hosted by ESA and held at ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 14 to 16 January 2003.
9 December 2002 - 13 December 2002
The Envisat Validation Workshop was intended to review the first results of the validation of the Envisat geophysical data. The objectives of the workshop were to review the Level 2 product algorithms using the results of the validation campaigns, to review the geophysical consistency of the Level 2 processor products, to provide an error estimation of the Level 2 products, and, where needed, to recommend instrument re-calibration and algorithm development.
23 April 2001 - 24 April 2001
The First International GOCE Workshop was held on April 23-24th, 2001 in ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The objective of the First International GOCE user workshop was to provide a forum for presentations and discussions on the development, use and exploitation of GOCE Level 2 (global and regional) geoid products, and of Level 3 (science and application) data products. The workshop also provided current information on the technical and programmatic status of the GOCE project.
23 June 1999 - 25 June 1999
ATSR International Workshop on the Applications of the ERS ALONG TRACK SCANNING RADIOMETER
8 April 1999 - 9 April 1999
ESA initiated this workshop on 8 - 9 April 1999 at ESRIN. Through a process of presentations and discussions, delegates and key representatives from downstream industry worked together with ESA to establish a set of potential actions to assist the ESA Executive in implementing future market development and exploitation support activities for Earth Observation.
14 March 1997 - 21 March 1997
The ESA Directorate for Observation of the Earth and its Environment held the 3rd ERS Symposium. This event, following similar ones in Cannes in 1992 and Hamburg in 1993, marked a milestone in the evolution of ERS data exploitation. The large number of attendees (some 700) from 35 countries representing the full range of earth observation data users from scientific, operational, institutional and commercial entities, demonstrated the world-wide interest in ERS data. The excellent atmosphere of the Conference was proof of the well established cooperation between all user groups and the Agency.
30 September 1996 - 2 October 1996
The European Space Agency organised an ESA International Workshop on ERS SAR Interferometry and its first Workshop on ASAR interferometry: ADVANCES in SAR interferometry from ERS and ENVISAT missions at ESA ESRIN Frascati Italy
6 December 1995 - 8 December 1995
Following the ERS Symposia in Cannes and Hamburg and the Pilot Project Applications Workshop in Toledo, the 2nd ERS Applications Workshop was hosted in the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London. The focus of the workshop accounts for the increasing number of pilot and pre-operational applications, which have evolved from originally scientific projects. The contributions to this workshop were therefore tailored to the presentation of application results, rather than the description of methodology.
