13 March 2006 - 18 March 2006
ESA and CNES are organising an exceptional symposium on 15 Years of Progress in Radar Altimetry, focusing on the extraordinary progress made in the field of altimetry over the past fifteen years. The symposium will be sponsored by NASA, Eumetsat, IAG, IAPSO and other partner agencies and organizations supporting the development of altimetry.
24 January 2006 - 26 January 2006
The first SAR oceanography workshop SeaSAR 2006, entitled "Advances in SAR Oceanography from the ENVISAT and ERS missions", which will be held at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, from 24 to 26 January 2006. Wave mode processing algorithms, product validation and assimilation, ocean wind, current, wave applications, ice, oil spill and ship detection are some of the themes that will be covered.
28 November 2005 - 2 December 2005
The European Space Agency is organising its second International Workshop on Envisat ASAR interferometry and its fourth International Workshop on ERS SAR Interferometry: "Advances in SAR Interferometry from ENVISAT and ERS missions", which will be held in ESA ESRIN in Frascati, Italy from 28th of November to 2nd of December 2005. The workshop is open to ESA Principal Investigators and co-investigators, scientists and students working in the field of SAR interferometry and its applications, and to representatives from national, European and international space agencies and Value Adding Industry.
10 October 2005 - 15 October 2005
26 September 2005 - 30 September 2005
The European Space Agency organised a joint MERIS and (A)ATSR workshop to provide scientists and data users with the opportunity to present first-hand and up-to-date results from their on-going research activities including discussions on scientific applications, data quality, development of new algorithms and data products. Of specific interest was the synergistic use of the data from these instruments for operational applications, primarily in the marine environment and the coastal zones, but also for applications over land and the atmosphere.
20 April 2005 - 20 April 2005
The Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment, or GOME, was added to the original ERS-1 payload complement for the launch of the second European Remote Sensing Satellite (ERS-2) in 1994. This workshop was conducted in ESTEC in April 2005 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ERS-2 GOME. Proceedings are available at the workshop website.
21 March 2005 - 23 March 2005
The CHRIS/Proba workshop represented a major opportunity for the user community to present scientific results obtained using CHRIS data for atmospheric, land and coastal studies. Contributions that discuss the performance of the satellite and the quality of its data products were also welcomed. The workshop was organised around a single stream of plenary sessions with oral presentations.
8 March 2005 - 10 March 2005
CryoSat, the first of the ESA 'Earth Explorer' missions, designed to study Earth's land and marine ice fields, is approaching its launch in 2005. CryoSat data support cryospheric applications but also oceanography, geodesy, and land hydrology. ESA organised the first CryoSat User Workshop, which aimed to provide scientists with a detailed understanding of the mission and a view of validation activities planned from 2005 to 2007 by ESA and national agencies. The workshop was held in Frascati, Italy, from 8-10 March 2005.
17 January 2005 - 21 January 2005
Following the first PolinSAR workshop in January 2003 which brought together over 70 scientists and researchers in the fields of synthetic aperture radar polarimetry and polarimetric interferometry, the European Space Agency hosted the Second International Workshop on Applications of Polarimetry and Polarimetric interferometry in Frascati, Italy, from 17-21 January 2005.
29 November 2004 - 1 December 2004
The Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity Mission is ESA's 2nd Earth Explorer Opportunity mission. It is an ESA led mission with contributions from the French Space Agency and the Spanish CDTI. The SMOS Project is currently in phase CD for a launch in February 2007. After four successful SMOS science workshops since 1999 and a joint Aquarius SMOS Hydros workshop held earlier this year, it is necessary to start addressing key points so as to proceed through SMOS phase C/D and prepare phase E. For this purpose, a science workshop was organised at the ESA ESRIN. This workshop focused on the calibration validation plan and scientific aspects of the ground segment, especially in view of the SMOS project and the synergisms with the US Missions.
