The third full reprocessing for ERS ATSR-1 and ATSR-2 data in Envisat format is under way; it is anticipated that the full reprocessed ERS and Envisat (A)ATSR archive will be released mid-2013. (See related news of 10 May 2013)
The CryoSat scientific user community is invited to take note that between 03 - 16 June (week 23 and 24) the SIRAL instrument operations will be based on a special geographical mode mask (CORE PLUS).
The CryoSat scientific user community is invited to take note that the parallel dissemination of new L2I production to the Cal-Val server has been discontinued.
COSMO-SkyMed's archive and tasking data are now available to the scientific user community in four sensor modes (ScanSAR Huge, ScanSAR Wide, StripMap HIMAGE and StripMap PINGPONG) through project proposal submission via the COSMO-SkyMed information area on ESA's Earthnet Online Portal.
Image of the Week
This Kompsat-2 image was acquired over southwestern Kazakhstan's Mangistau region east of the Caspian Sea.
Along the top of the image we can see water and wetlands, with eroded areas at the top and on the right. The majority of the image is dominated by flatland covered with low-lying vegetation.
Earth Observation Events
09 - 13 September 2013
The 2013 European Space Agency Living Planet Symposium follows the previous successful symposia held in Bergen (2010), Montreux (2007) and Salzburg (2004). The event will be held in Edinburgh, United Kingdom from 09 to 13 September 2013 and is organised with the support of the UK Space Agency.
The aim of the Symposium is to present the results of ESA EO missions exploitation by providing a forum for investigators to report and discuss results of on-going science activities.
23 - 27 September 2013
The 3rd ESA Advanced Training on Ocean Remote Sensing course will be held in Cork, Ireland, at the National Maritime College of Ireland from 23 to 27 September 2013.
As part of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) programme element, the European Space Agency (ESA) is organising a series of advanced thematic training courses devoted to train the next generation of Earth Observation (EO) scientists to use data from ESA and operational EO Missions for science and applications development.
24 - 27 September 2013
The joint ESA-EGU international workshop, Air-sea gas flux climatology: Progress and future prospects, will take place in Brest, France from 24 to 27 September 2013.
The results of the ESA STSE OceanFlux Greenhouse Gases project will be presented at the workshop, and will allow scientists, engineers, Reference User Group members and partners to gain user feedback and plan future aims and collaborations. The aim is to build a picture of the existing capability of the air-sea gas flux climatology community and look ahead to new challenges and opportunities.
Abstract submission and registration deadline: 31 May 2013
30 September - 04 October 2013
The first Microwave Ocean Remote Sensing Training School organised by the SMOS-MODE EU COST Action will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from 30 September to 04 October 2013.
Through a combination of theoretical lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions the school will cover all key aspects of large-scale ocean monitoring, with a particular focus on SMOS data processing and applications. The number of participants is limited to 25 and applicants will be selected on a competitive basis.
Registration deadline: 28 June 2013
07 - 08 October 2013
The Coastal Altimetry Community, that is the international community of scientists working on development and applications of altimetry in the coastal zone, will meet at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado, from 07 to 08 October 2013 for the 7th Workshop of the successful Coastal Altimetry series.
The workshop will provide a lively forum for a community-led review of the science and applications of coastal altimetry, from data processing through emerging applications to new technologies.
Extended registration deadline: 12 August 2013
28 - 31 October 2013
The Advanced Concepts for Intelligent Vision Systems Conference (Acivs 2013) will be held in Poznan, Poland from 28 to 31 October 2013.
The conference will focus on techniques for building adaptive, intelligent, safe and secure imaging systems. Both classical research papers and application papers are welcome.
Early registration deadline: 13 September 2013
