Earth Observation Events
28 - 31 October 2014
The Earth Observation for Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions Science 2014, will be held in ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 28 to 31 October 2014.
This joint ESA-SOLAS-EGU conference aims at bringing together the EO and SOLAS communities, as well as scientific institutions and space agencies involved in the observation, characterisation and forecasting of ocean-atmosphere interactions and their impacts.
13 - 14 November 2014
This SMOS workshop, organised by CESBIO and ESA will be held in Toulouse, France from 13 to 14 November 2014.
The workshop aims to bring together the EO, SMOS, Earth system science and modelling communities involved in the observation, characterisation and forecasting of land surface processes and their impacts. In particular, the event represents a unique opportunity to facilitate the communications and scientific exchanges among these different communities in order to enhance the coordination of specific scientific efforts and advocate for a common view of major scientific needs and priority areas for the future.
The outcome of this workshop will include recommendations to further advance (1) the development and validation of novel SMOS products and observations (also in synergy with other EO datasets), (2) the development of novel applications and science results that may exploit the full capacity of SMOS in the context of key land processes and their impacts on climate (3) the effective assimilation of SMOS observations and products into advanced model / data assimilation systems/approaches and (4) the formulation of a research agenda that may guide ESA and other institutions to initiate dedicated future activities.
25 - 28 November 2014
The European Space Agency, in partnership with the International Oceanographic Commission is organising the 5th International GOCE User Workshop at UNESCO, Paris from 25 to 28 November 2014.
This workshop is intended to provide current and future users of GOCE data products with the opportunity to obtain the latest information on the satellite gravity mission, its performance as well as details regarding the latest release of the data products and user services and tools. The workshop is seeking the presentation of new results based on GOCE data in all application areas. Prior to the workshop, the European Space Agency plans to release the fifth generation gravity field solutions based on GOCE data.
26 - 28 November 2014
Ocean Salinity Science & Salinity Remote Sensing Workshop will be held at Met Office, Exeter, United Kingdom from 26 to 28 November 2014. The 3 day workshop is an open meeting to review progress and future priorities for measuring ocean salinity.
The focus of this workshop will be: To review progress made in using Ocean Salinity data (SSS and subsurface), to identify scientific challenges and benefits of using satellite SSS data in the wider ocean community in synergy with other data sources (in situ, satellite, model); and thus, to foster the use of the new SSS data from space in the wider ocean and climate science communities.
19 - 23 January 2015
As part of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) programme element, the European Space Agency (ESA) is organising the 3rd Advanced Course on Radar Polarimetry devoted to train the next generation of Earth Observation (EO) scientists to exploit dual and fully polarimetric data for science and applications development. The course will be held at ESA ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, from 19 to 23 January 2015.
Post graduate, PhD students, post-doctoral research scientists and users from European countries and Canada interested in Radar Polarimetry and its applications are invited to apply to the 5 day course on the subject.
26 - 30 January 2015
The European Space Agency is jointly organising the 7th International Workshop on Science and Applications of SAR Polarimetry and Polarimetric Interferometry, POLinSAR 2015, and the 1st BIOMASS Science workshop. The workshops will be held in ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy on the following dates:
The objectives of the workshops are to provide a forum for exchange on the latest advances and research in SAR polarimetry and to gather a scientific community for ESA's future BIOMASS mission.
10 - 13 February 2015
The ADM-Aeolus Science and Cal/Val Workshop will take place at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, from 10 to 13 February 2015.
The objective of the workshop is to bring scientists and Cal/Val Principle Investigators (PI) together at ESA to present and discuss the upcoming ADM-Aeolus mission and its products, science applications and Calibration and Validation aspects. Furthermore, the scientific community are invited to present their plans for the use of the Aeolus data and to start getting familiar with the expected products and product quality.
23 - 27 March 2015
The European Space Agency, in the context of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) element, is organising the 9th International Workshop Fringe 2015 'Advances in the Science and Applications of SAR Interferometry and Sentinel-1 InSAR'. The event will be hosted in ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy from 23 to 27 March 2015.
