The event is open to the public and the English language will be used.
20 - 22 March 2012
ESA and EUMETSAT are jointly organising a Workshop on Sentinel-3 Calibration and Validation planning which will be held in ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy.
This meeting will present an overview and status of Sentinel-3 calibration and validation activities, review the Draft Sentinel-3 Calibration/Validation Plan (CVP), seek lessons learned feedback and inputs from previous R&D and operational missions. The calibration and validation community will provide Sentinel-3 teams with prioritized recommendations to ensure an effective and successful mission cal/val outcome.
Particular emphasis will be given to operational cal/val issues and associated activities.
16 - 20 April 2012
The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising a series of technical and/or scientific trainings that are aimed at the promotion and dissemination of Earth Observation (EO) technology in a variety of science and industrial fields.
In 2012 ESA in cooperation with the University of Tartu and the Tartu Observatory is organising a Radar Remote Sensing training course between 16-20 April 2012. It is addressed to participants from universities, scientific communities, institutions and organisations that are making use of geoinformation.
The course will introduce participants to radar remote sensing technology as well as provide examples of end user applications of this technique in the environmental field.
18 - 22 June 2012
The European Space Agency and the Norwegian Space Centre are jointly organising the fourth SAR oceanography workshop, SEASAR 2012, entitled "Advances in SAR Oceanography", which is to be hosted in Tromso, Norway, from 18 to 22 June 2012.
The workshop is open to scientists and students in the field of SAR oceanography including ESA Principle Investigators and co-investigators, to users of data from future SAR missions like Sentinel-1 and Radarsat Constellation Mission (RCM) and to representatives from national, European and international space agencies and value adding industry.
27 - 28 June 2012
The aim of this first GlobTemperature User Consultation Meeting which will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, is to survey users' requirements for satellite land surface temperature information.
The other objective of this meeting is to explore the feasibility of meeting them with available data and techniques, and set a list of priority requirements to be addressed by a potential future GlobTemperature project.
30 July - 10 August 2012
The European Space Agency (ESA) organizes a series of summer schools on Monitoring of the Earth System to promote the exploitation of Earth Observation EO data across disciplines, with a specific focus on their assimilation into Earth System models.
The two-week course, held in ESA/ESRIN (near Rome, Italy) during August (typically every two years) aims to provide students with an integrated end-to-end perspective going from measurement techniques to end-user applications.
The school is open to young researchers (Ph.D. students, young post-doctoral scientists) who are specialised in a variety of Earth Science disciplines and wish to expand and improve their knowledge and skills.
Deadline for applications: 29 February 2012
