Envisat - MERIS FRS L1 data available on MERCI

Following the release of the Envisat MERIS Level 1 Full Resolution Full Swath data (MER_FRS_1P) online via FTP, the products are now also retrievable via HTTP through the MERIS MERCI system (see related news of 20 November 2013).

Arctic sea ice up from record low

Measurements from ESA's CryoSat satellite show that the volume of Arctic sea ice has significantly increased this autumn.

CryoSat Matlab routines V1.5 now available

The CryoSat Matlab routines have now been updated to V1.5 which corrects a minor bug in the L2 reading routine. These routines are now available for download in the Software Tools area.

CryoSat to roll in orbit again for calibration

On 04-05 January 2014, CryoSat will be rolling again left and right in orbit to help to continue its precise measurements of the vast ice sheets that blanket Greenland and Antarctica.

TanDEM-X Intermediate DEM Announcement of Opportunity from DLR

The national aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany (DLR) has just released a call dedicated to the scientific utilisation of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) products of the TanDEM-X mission of the first global coverage (IDEM). IDEM data will be delivered free of charge to accepted proposals.

10th International Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Measurements from Space

05 - 07 May 2014

The 10th International Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Measurements from space (IWGGMS-10) will take place at ESA-ESTEC in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, from 05 to 07 May 2014.

The goal of this workshop is to assess the latest science and technologies of greenhouse gas (GHG) measurements from space. The workshop will address new scientific findings obtained from current and past satellite missions (ENVISAT SCIAMACHY, Aqua AIRS, MeteoSat IASI, GOSAT TANSO-FTS, and Aura TES), as well as the concepts of future satellite missions that are near launch or in preparation (OCO-2, Sentinel-5 precursor, TanSat, OCO-3, MERLIN, GOSAT-2, MicroCarb, Sentinel-5, CarbonSat, ASCENDS, etc.).

Sentinel-2 for Science Workshop

20 - 22 May 2014

The European Space Agency, in the context of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) element, is organising an event dedicated to prepare for scientific exploitation of the Sentinel-2 mission, entitled "Sentinel-2 for Science Workshop", which will be hosted in ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 20 to 22 May 2014.

The workshop is open to ESA Principal Investigators, co-investigators, Sentinel-2 users, scientists, students, representatives from national, European and international space agencies and value adding industries.

5th ESA Advanced Training Course on Land Remote Sensing 2014
