The CryoSat SIRAL instrument has been programmed to resume nominal science measurements at 22:21 UTC on 11 October, after the pause in acquisitions announced on 03 October.

The CryoSat Matlab routines have now been updated to V1.3 with corrections applied to the scale factor for the ice concentration field and the inverse barometric correction. These routines are now available for download in the Software Tools area.

On 14 October, G-POD was successfully migrated as planned to the new ESA Single Sign-On system (EO-SSO). Registered users can log in by using their EO SSO account.
New users interested in accessing G-POD are invited to follow the EO SSO registration.

The ESA eSurge project invites you to the storm surge networking forum to be held at ISMAR, Venice from 18 to 20 November 2013. This will be an open forum to discuss the needs of the storm surge community and how satellite data can best be applied. The aim is to build links between data providers, modellers and end users. The event is open to anyone with an interest in applying satellite data to storm surge applications.

In preparation for the Sentinel-3A satellite launch at the end of 2014, a Validation Team has been convened by ESA and EUMETSAT to assist in the scientific validation of mission products and services. The Sentinel-3 Validation Team (S3VT) 1st Meeting will take place at ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 26 to 29 November 2013. The aim of the S3VT meeting is to consolidate and document S3VT activities prior to launch to facilitate Phase E1 and Phase E2 cal/val planning.

The 7th International Workshop on Sand and Duststorms and Associated Dustfall will take place at ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 02 to 04 December 2013. The main objective of the workshop is to bring together scientists working on dust worldwide, exchange information on hot research topics, present and discuss recent understanding on the links and feedbacks between desert dust and radiation, clouds, water budget, human health, and biological systems and to identify current research priorities with a special focus on satellite remote sensing.

The Ninth Conference on Image Information Mining will be held at the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) in Bucharest, Romania from 05 to 07 March 2014. The event is sponsored by the Image Information Mining Coordination Group (IIMCG) and the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS). The focus of this year's conference is: The Sentinels Era.
The main topics to be discussed during the conference are: image information mining, image semantic automatic annotation, multi modal and multi-sensor information extraction. The event is aimed at European space agencies and organisations, aerospace industry and research centres, value added companies and service providers.
