Scientific Users of the Cryosat User Tool are informed that a new version of the CUT_ROEF file reflecting the updated reference orbit is now available for download.
The SMOS Level 2 Soil Moisture data available in NRT based on a neural network approach (Level-2 SM-NRT-NN product in netCDF format) are now available via EUMETCast, within four hours from sensing.

ESA will shortly introduce an important change for users in the way to obtain Envisat and ERS (A)SAR data. Evolving from the traditional on-demand PAC production to the new On-The-Fly data processing will imply significant improvement for users being able to trigger (A)SAR processing and download directly from the ESA archive via the new (A)SAR data On-The-Fly (OTF) service.

Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is sited on a group of 117 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by bridges. These are located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon which stretches along the shoreline, between the mouths of the Po and the Piave Rivers. Parts of Venice are renowned for the beauty of their settings, their architecture, and artwork. The lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a World Heritage Site.
Earth Observation Events
20 - 24 June 2016
The 36th EARSeL Symposium will be held in Bonn, Germany, from 20 to 24 June 2016.
EARSeL is a scientific network of European remote sensing laboratories, coming from both academia and the commercial/industrial sector, which covers all fields of geoinformation and earth observation through remote sensing.
All scientists, professionals and researchers involved or interested in the field of the symposium are strongly encouraged to present papers according on a wide range of application areas.
Symposium registration is now open through the symposium Conference Tool.
12 - 16 September 2016
The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising the second Earth Observation Open Science community consultation at ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) from 12 to 14 September 2016 to explore the new challenges and opportunities for EO research created by the rapid advances in digital technologies.
These include open tools and software, data-intensive science, virtual research environment, citizen science, advanced visualization, and e-education of the new generation of Data scientists.
12 - 16 September 2016
As part of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) programme element, the European Space Agency (ESA) is organising a new advanced Cryosphere Training Course devoted to train the next generation of Earth Observation (EO) scientists to exploit data from ESA and operational EO Missions (e.g. the Sentinels) for science and applications development.
21 - 22 September 2016
The 3rd Satellite Soil Moisture Validation and Application workshop will be held in New York City, USA, from 21 to 22 September 2016 (the exact location has yet to be decided).
The objective of this workshop series is to discuss and reconcile methodological advances in the validation and application of global satellite soil moisture data.
The workshop is unique in that it brings together satellite soil moisture users and developers to focus on both the derivation and exploration of soil moisture data from both passive and active microwave satellite missions (SMAP, SMOS, ASCAT, AMSR-2, Sentinel-1, and other legacy missions).
Please note that this workshop will follow a SMAP Cal/Val Workshop on 19 and 20 September 2016 that will be held in Manhattan and is open to all that are interested in SMAP.
15 - 17 November 2016
A three day workshop on the science and applications of remotely-sensed ocean surface winds, with a focus on high or extreme wind speeds. The workshop will be held at the Met Office headquarters in the cathedral city of Exeter, United Kingdom, from 15 to 17 November 2016.
Topics will include:
