ESA has started a process to improve the Earth Observation data distribution services, aiming at facilitating access to data and information for the end users, initially by shortening the access path and reviewing authentication and authorisation processes.

Copernicus Sentinels to help measure Earth's biomass

MUAS 2018 - Extended abstract submission

ESA is organising the second conference on Mapping Urban Areas from Space (MUAS 2018), which will be held at ESA-ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) from 30 to 31 October 2018.

Interested participants should note that the abstract submission deadline has been extended until 22 June 2018.

Swarm Alpha: VFM data gap from 02 to 03 June 2018

Due to an anomaly that occurred on the VFM (Vector Field Magnetometer) on board Swarm Alpha, the VFM science data (at 50 Hz rate) was not received from 02 June 2018 at 09:52 UTC to 03 June 2018 at 09:14:34 UTC.

Sicily hotspot

Launched on 25 April 2018, Sentinel-3B has already delivered some impressive first images from its ocean and land colour instrument, from its altimeter and from the optical channels of its radiometer.


With the radiometer's thermal-infrared channels now turned on, the satellite completes its set of firsts with an image that depicts thermal signatures over southern Italy, the Mediterranean Sea and Sicily.

Fuego plume

On 03 June 2018, the Copernicus Sentinel-5P satellite measured sulphur dioxide in the plume spewing from the Fuego volcano in Guatemala.

GOSAT data distribution resumed
