Eight years of SMOS Arctic sea ice thickness level now available from SMOS Data dissemination portal

Daily maps of sea ice thickness based on SMOS Observations, covering the winter seasons in the Arctic for the period of October-April from year 2010/2011 to year 2017/2018, are now available from the SMOS Data dissemination portal.

New view of Antarctica in 3D

Thanks to ESA's CryoSat mission, a new map of Antarctica provides the most accurate 3D view ever of the continent's vast ice sheet and floating ice shelves.

1st International SORBETTO Summer School

The European Space Agency (ESA) through its Earth Observation ground segment team is co-sponsoring the 1st international summer school-conference: "SORBETTO: SOlar Radiation Based Established Techniques for aTmospheric Observations", together with the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate of the National Research Council of Italy (ISAC-CNR) and the University Sapienza of Rome.


The deadline for applications is 27 May 2018.

MUAS 2018 Conference

In the frame of the EO Science for Society Programme Element, the European Space Agency is organising the second conference on Mapping Urban Areas from Space - MUAS 2018. The Conference will be held at ESA-ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) from 30 to 31 October 2018.

Copernicus Sentinel-3B delivers first images

Less than two weeks after it was launched, the Copernicus Sentinel-3B satellite has delivered its first images of Earth. Exceeding expectations, this first set of images include the sunset over Antarctica, sea ice in the Arctic and a view of northern Europe.

Seventh Sentinel satellite launched for Copernicus

The second Sentinel-3 satellite, Copernicus Sentinel-3B, was launched on 25 April, joining its identical twin Sentinel-3A in orbit. This pairing of satellites increases coverage and data delivery for the European Union's Copernicus environment programme.
