GRACE operational issue: Planned switch-on of MWA
20 March 2017
The GRACE-A and B Microwave Assemblies (MWA) have been switched-on again on 17 March (the 15th birthday of the satellite mission!) and began operations in sunlight.
Time tagged commands were uploaded to begin sunlight operations at 11:16 UTC. The MWA is currently on for 42 minutes per orbit. MWA on time will increase each day as eclipse durations shorten.
The GRACE-B Accelerometer Instrument Control Unit (ICU) remains off.
Top story on Copernicus
Just over a week after being lofted into orbit, the European Union's Sentinel-2B satellite delivered its first images of Earth, offering a glimpse of the ‘colour vision' it will provide for the Copernicus environmental monitoring programme.
With a swath width of 290 km, the satellite's first acquisition began over the Baltic Sea and made a strip-like observation through eastern Europe, ending in northern Libya.
