GRACE operational issue: Planned switch-on of MWA

The GRACE-A and B Microwave Assemblies (MWA) have been switched-on again on 17 March (the 15th birthday of the satellite mission!) and began operations in sunlight.
Time tagged commands were uploaded to begin sunlight operations at 11:16 UTC. The MWA is currently on for 42 minutes per orbit. MWA on time will increase each day as eclipse durations shorten.
The GRACE-B Accelerometer Instrument Control Unit (ICU) remains off.

The collaboration aims to optimise the use of satellite data in farming and to assess the benefit to farmers with the aim of improving farming practices, water resource efficiency and crop yield.
