EarthCARE ESA call for proposals now open

ESA is pleased to announce the release of an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) Call for the External Calibration and Validation of the EarthCARE products. This AO aims to engage leading expertise for the Calibration and Validation activities for the mission, providing independent experimental data, analysis and recommendations to critically assess the end-to-end performance of the instruments and their products.
The EarthCARE satellite, scheduled for launch in 2019, is developed by ESA in collaboration with JAXA in the framework of its Earth Explorer Missions. EarthCARE will contribute to climate research providing global observations of clouds, aerosols and radiation. The mission has a planned lifetime in orbit of three years.
The extended deadline for submission of proposals is 31 October 2017

Launched last week, Europe's Sentinel-5P satellite - the first Copernicus mission dedicated to monitoring the air we breathe - is in excellent health.
The satellite will use its state-of-the-art Tropomi instrument to monitor our atmosphere, mapping a multitude of gases that affect the air we breathe, our climate and human health.
