EarthCARE Cal/Val AO - Deadline extension
13 October 2017
ESA recently released an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) Call for the External Calibration and Validation of the EarthCARE products.
This is to inform all interested users that, following the request of prospective Principal Investigators, the deadline for submitting proposals has been extended to 31 October 2017.
The EarthCARE satellite is developed by ESA, in collaboration with JAXA, in the framework of its Earth Explorer Missions. Scheduled for launch in 2019, EarthCARE will contribute to climate research providing global observations of clouds, aerosols and radiation. The mission has a planned lifetime in orbit of three years.
Further information about this Call and the relevant proposal submission can be found on the EarthCARE AO web page.

In a major collaborative effort, scientists from around the world have used information from satellites to reveal that ice melting in Antarctica has not only raised sea levels by 7.6 mm since 1992, but, critically, almost half of this rise has occurred in the last five years.
This information is key to understanding how climate change is affecting the most remote part of the planet and how this has consequences for the rest of the world.
