As done for the Izmit earthquake in 1999 and for the major quake of Bam (Iran) in 2003, ESA makes freely available to the scientific community a dataset of SAR products (Envisat and ERS) corresponding to the earthquake of Aquila (Italy) which took place on 6 April 2009. The ESA package also includes data from Third Party missions, in particular Japanese ALOS data.
This action aims to promote SAR data particularly for use in seismology and to highlight the value of the SAR data archive collected over seismic areas.
Users interested by the dataset package can download as indicated below, or alternatively Contact us
In return, users are kindly requested to acknowledge the ESA SAR dataset (Italy earthquake April 2009) in publications.
The Earth Observation PI web site includes results obtained by different teams having exploited the ESA dataset. Users' reports can be sent to the ESA Earth Observation PI team at firstname.lastname@example.org for publication.
The dataset is mainly composed of SAR Level 0 products and SAR SLC products. It also includes some optical data from ALOS.
