GOCE L1b-L2 XML Parser

GOCE Level-1b and Level-2 data conforms to ESA's Earth Explorers File Format Standards (EEF), which is based on XML.

The L1b-L2XML parser is made available to the GOCE user community to import data into existing applications, by transforming the products from EEF format into other common formats.

The L1b-L2XML parser User Guide provides detailed information on the parser's installation and on file conversion.

A Test suite (ZIP 307MB) is also available for the parser. The zip file contains sample datasets and a script (check_eef_transform.sh) to automate the test.

The L1b-L2 XML Parser accepts as input the following GOCE products:

+ Level 1b:

  • EGG_NOM_1b Nominal Gradiometer product - L1b
  • SST_NOM_1b Nominal SSTI instrument product - L1b
  • STR_VC2_1b Star Tracker Quaternions product - L1b
  • STR_VC3_1b Star Tracker Quaternions product - L1b

EGG and SST L1b nominal sub-products returned by the parser are:

  • EGG_CCD_DS Internal calibrated Common and differential accelerations
  • EGG_GGT_DS Gravity Gradient Tensor in GRF frame
  • EGG_IAQ_DS Gradio internal attitude quaternions
  • SST_COV_DS Cavariance Matrix
  • SST_PVT_DS Clock Error and Position Vector.

+ Level-2

  • SST_PSO_2 Precise science orbits with quality report
  • SST_AUX_2 SH coefficients for non-tidal temporal corrections
  • EGG_NOM_2 L2 gravity gradients in GRF with corrections
  • EGG_TRF_2 L2 gravity gradients in LNOF with corrections
  • EGM_GOC_2 Final GOCE gravity field model with error estimates and quality report

L2 products may be converted into the following output formats:

  • COVARIANCE FORMAT
  • ROTATION MATRIX FORMAT
  • ICGEM FORMAT
  • GRID FORMAT
