Shubha Sathyendranath is a scientist at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, UK. Educated in India and France, she has worked at the National Institute of Oceanography in India and at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Canada before moving to the UK. Her main areas of research are marine optics, remote sensing of ocean colour, marine primary production and biological-physical interactions in the ocean. She is the science leader of the ocean-colour component of ESA’s Climate Change Initiative. She was the first Executive Director of the Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans.
