Dr Michael Buchwitz
Dr. Michael Buchwitz studied Physics at the University of Bremen, Germany, and received his PhD degree on atmospheric radiative transfer modelling and satellite remote sensing of atmospheric composition. Since 1993 he has been working at the Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP), University of Bremen, in various areas related to the GOME, SCIAMACHY and CarbonSat satellite sensors and to the MAMAP aircraft instrument focussing on greenhouse gases. He is Senior Researcher and leader of the IUP Carbon Group. He is Science Leader of the GHG-CCI project of ESA's Climate Change Initiative (CCI), co-proposer of the CarbonSat mission and participates in various other ESA, EU (e.g., MACC-II) and DLR projects. He has published approximately 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
