Berlin, Germany
SAR Orbit number: 37594
29 June 2002

This ERS-2 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) multitemporal colour composite image is focused over Berlin, the capital of Germany, seen as a large bright area centre image.

Well visible are forests of pine and fir trees (brown grayish patches) dispersed throughout the image, the many colourful cultivated fields of rye, wheat, and potatoes surrounding the city, and several lakes located in the bottom portion of the image.

On the outskirts of the city are the Tegel Airport (northwest) and the Berlin Tempelhof Airport (southeast). The dark circular area at the city's centre is the Brandenburg Gate.

The image is made of three ERS-2 SAR PRI (Precision Radar Image) images acquired on different dates and assigning a colour (RGB) to each date of acquisition.
