ESA is pleased to announce the reopening of the Announcement of Opportunity (AO) call for the Aeolus Mission.
The objective of the current reopening is
  • to invite worldwide scientists, new groups and individuals, to participate in Aeolus CAL/VAL throughout the mission lifetime.

Please note that proposals already submitted/confirmed for the other calls released in 2007 and 2014 remain valid and do not need to be resubmitted.

Funding of the activities solicited through this AO shall be covered by national/institutional resources. As a CAL/VAL PI or co-PI, access to Aeolus product quality information will become available to you first-hand and before the official product release. Furthermore, you will be given the opportunity to quickly learn cooperate directly with other Aeolus CAL/VAL PIs and to perform joint activities.

The Open Science Earth Observation (OSEO) call offers to scientists the opportunity to exploit at no cost a full archive of EO data for science, applications and technological innovation, by offering Third Party services which exploit state of the art ICT.

The call is permanently open to scientists from ESA, European Union member states and Africa until the ESA allocated resources are exhausted.

The EOhopS call, part of the ESA TPM programme, opens EO data hosted-processing offer to scientists and R&D users.
The CloudEO managed service, available from the EOhopS portal allows users to analyse commercial & Sentinel data in a hosted-processing environment together with analytical software (ENVI,IDL,ESA SNAP). Users can also upload own content like in situ data, scientific algorithms to the virtual workbench (CloudEO guarantees that confidentiality & IPR will be respected).

The following steps demonstrate how to apply:

  • Select the products you may need on the EOhopS Store, add them to your shopping cart and export it as PDF.
  • Register at ESA & submit your proposal including the PDF/shopping cart.
  • Once the project is approved, based on technical/scientific feasibility & availability of ESA allocated resources,PI can login and use granted credits on the EOhopS portal.

Within the framework of its Copernicus missions, ESA is pleased to announce the Sentinel-5 Precursor Calibration and Validation Team Call (S5PVT) that aims to engage leading expertise for the Calibration and Validation of the Sentinel-5 Precursor (S5P) in the mission validation team, providing independent experimental data, analysis and recommendations to critically assess the end-to-end performance of the instrument and its products. The main payload of S5P is TROPOMI (TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument), a push broom imaging spectrometer realized by ESA in collaboration with the Netherlands Space Office (NSO). S5P is expected to provide information on atmospheric variables in support of European policies and Copernicus services. The S5p satellite was launched on 13 October 2017 and will provide over 7 years data to the user community.

In the framework of a GMES collaborative agreement ESA and EUMETSAT is opening a call "To engage world-class validation expertise and activities to complement Sentinel-3 routine validation activities and ensure the best possible outcomes for the Sentinel-3 Mission". The call is open to relevant and interested groups and individuals worldwide; group responses are particularly welcome.
The call is implemented as a rolling call with distinct deadlines for proposal submissions on a regular basis.

S3VT meeting took place at ESA/ESRIN, 15-17 February 2017. More information.

ESA is offering all scientists with the possibility to perform bulk processing and/or validation of their own algorithms exploiting the large ESA earth-observation archive together with ESA available GRID computing and
dynamic storage resources.
