This document is intended for geologists who are interested in broadening their knowledge of interpretation of imaging radar data. It introduces imaging radar as it may be used by technicians and image interpreters. Interferometric SAR is briefly treated, with some basic and practical hints. An illustrated application study on land subsidence is included.
The BACCHUS-DOC Radar and Optical Campaign was an area mapping project of
vineyards near Frascati (Italy). ESA required high resolution geo-referenced airborne SAR data of different wavelength and polarisation (preferably polarimetric).
The document concerns the SAR.PRI product (SAR Precision Image). This is a digital image which is generated from raw SAR data, using-up-to-date auxiliary parameters, corrected for antenna elevation, gain and range spreading loss.
