Swarm is dedicated to creating a highly detailed survey of the Earth’s geomagnetic field and its temporal evolution as well as the electric field in the atmosphere using a constellation of three identical satellites.
Due to an issue detected in the Swarm Level 1B data processing chain, the magnetic field intensity derived from the ASM instrument and stored in MAGx_LR_1B and MAGx_CA_1B products for Swarm Alpha is set to zero on 23 August 2021.
An extension of CHAOS-7 model (version 7.8) has been released, determined by Chris Finlay (DTU), using Swarm official baseline 0601 data up to 30 June 2021 and ground observatory data up to April 2021.
The ERS programme celebrated its 30th anniversary on 17 July. Today, we are still exploiting ERS data and experts continue to work on improving the altimeter, radiometer and SAR data the programme acquired.
