The project SIFACIT (Swarm Data Quality Investigation of Field-Aligned Current Products, Ionosphere, and Thermosphere Systems) focuses on the study of the Field-Aligned Currents (FACs) with the electric and magnetic field data measured by the Swarm mission.

The main goals of this project are:

• The development of a new Swarm FAC product based on the data collected by Swarm, together with an appropriate quality indicator
• The investigation of the longitudinal gradients in the auroral region, and their impact on FAC closure
• Joule heating will be analysed in the auroral region on multiple scales, with Swarm data together with ground based data and simulation
