Abstract:
The cross spectra methodology has been evaluated on ERS SAR Image Mode
data with respect to the retrieval of the ocean wave spectrum. It is
shown that the cross spectra methodology is superior to the standard
image spectra in terms of propagation ambiguity resolution, speckle
compensation and azimuth cut-off estimation. It is shown that within
the spectral domain of the SAR, inversion can be performed without any
a priori knowledge of the wave field.
Potentials for application of multi-polarization cross spectra from
future spaceborne SAR data are considered.
