ATSR-2 Demonstration Data Products for Continental Australia

Abstract

Along-Track Scanning Radiometer (ATSR-2) data of the Australian region acq
uired over a 35 day repeat cycle in the southern hemisphere spring of 1996, has
been used to assemble a cloud-free mosaic image of each of the 6 ATSR-2 channels
. Demonstration products such as albedo, land surface temperature, emissivity,
aerosol loading and vegetation index are being developed for the Australian regi
on. The demonstration data-set will be used to test new parameterisations for A
TSR-2 land surface products and to investigate issues related to atmospheric cor
rection (e.g. aerosols and water vapour effects) and surface directional effects
in the visible and IR. Example products and some inter-comparisons with AVHRR
will be presented.
