Abstract
ESA ESRIN has recently developed a system for
the automatic generation of ATSR browse products directly from
ERS Low Rate transcribed Data. The primary objective of this browse
is to provide the visibility of the ATSR data set to improve ATSR
full resolution products access. Each browse product, generated
from ATSR rectified and sub-sampled nadir scanlines is consisting
of ancillary information plus a quick-look image which shows the
main data features like: clouds, land sea, sunglint and ice. Each
browse image is first generated as a single ascending or descending
orbital segment and then framed according ESA standard ATSR full
resolution product framing before being ingested into the browsing
system which is proposed in two "flavours" : The ESRIN
WWW image browser integrated into a multi-mission environment
and the ABS CD Browser. The latter one is today provided to users
as an experimental delivery and it includes ATSR browse data and
a browsing system compatible with different software platforms.
