Abstract

CLIOSat is an operational and outstanding tool to quickly assess wind and wave climates all around the world. Several ESA's pilot projects have contributed to the elaboration of this Atlas. In particular, works have been carried out since 1991 in order to acquire methods on the management, the processing and the quality control of the data.

In the paper, we will present how satellite products have to be validated in terms of geophysical parameters. Calibration and validation will include different origins of data (Geosat, Topex-Poseïdon, ERS-1 and ERS-2).

Another aspect of CLIOSat managment will be shown. This concerns the real time reception, processing and statistical treatment.

The evolution and updating of the CLIOSat services (presentation, containance, software user-friendlines, ...) with the constant and fruitful advice of the customers and experts will be presented.
