Corinne Frey got her diploma in Geography with focus on climatology and remote sensing from Basel University in 2004. In the same year she joined ESTEC/ESA as a Young Graduate Trainee for one and a half year to work in the Mission Science Division. After this, Corinne Frey returned to Basel University as a PhD student to work on the CAPAC project (Climate and Air Pollution Analysis of Cairo) for the following 4 years, specialising on remote sensing in urban climate. She graduated summa cum laude in Meteorology in 2010. Since 2011 Corinne Frey is employed as a Postdoc for the WISDOM project by the Remote Sensing Unit of the University of Würzburg and working for the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
Corinne Frey is a former member of the Bibliography-Committee of the IAUC (International Association of Urban Climate) and has served as a reviewer for Remote Sensing of Environment, International Journal of Remote Sensing, International Journal of Climatology, International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, Journal of Arid Environments, eProceedings of EARSeL and the ‘California Environmental Protection Agency. Air Resources Board’
Activities in education:
From 2008 to 2011 Corinne Frey has been an assistant lecturer for remote sensing at the Institute of Meteorology, Climatology and Remote Sensing, Basel, Switzerland, preparing and reading the lecture Remote sensing in the Geosciences. Further, Corinne Frey has assisted various bachelor and master students in their theses.
Distinctions / Memberships:
Corinne Frey received the 2010 faculty prize for the best dissertation from the Faculty of Science of Basel University, Switzerland. At the ICUC-7 conference in 2009 she won the ESA award for remote sensing.
