The Aegean Islands, the Aegean Sea

An arm of the Mediterranean is imaged here: it is the Aegean Sea.
It surrounds the Greek islands, many of which are of volcanic
origin, and separates mainland Greece from Turkey.
On top: Samos island
Below, left to right: the islands of
Ikaria (extreme end of), Fournoi, Agathonesion, Patmos,
Arkoi, Leipsoi, Mandalya, Leros, and Kalymnos (part of it).
To the right: coast of Turkey with Dilek peninsula and Nehri river mouth.
