Description:
This ERS-2 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) multitemporal
colour composite image is centred over Tunis (bright area centre image), the
capital of Tunisia and a port on Lake Tunis, located in the northeast region of
the country. Clearly visible is the access from the city to the Gulf of Tunis
(an arm of the Mediterranean) by the canal (right of the city) that terminates
at the subsidiary port, Halq al Wadi (La Goulette). On the west and south sides
of the city are the Tell Atlas Mountains, where fertile valleys and plains may
be observed interspersed among the mountains. The black X shape pattern
northwest of Tunis is the city's airport. The image is made of three ERS-2 SAR
PRI (Precision Radar Image) images acquired on different dates and assigning a
colour (RGB) to each date of acquisition.
