El-Nino: ATSR Difference Sea Surface Temperature Between July 1995 and July 1997
Difference July 1995 and July 1997
This image shows the difference between Sea Surface Temperature for July 1995 ( normal year) and Sea Surface Temperature for July 1997 (strong El-Nino year). The anomaly in the El-Nino area is really strong. The difference can reach -5 degrees (in blue-black). We understand that such difference can have important climatic impact. At the opposite the water along Indonesia coast was colder in 1997 (in red). This cold anomaly will not help the rainfall in that area.
The continent, clouds or missing data are in white.
