Dragon 2 Final Results Reporting  

The 2012 Dragon symposium will serve as the close of the Dragon 2 Programme (2008 to 2012). The proceedings of the Dragon 2 Programme final results will be distributed following. On a project-by-project basis, the 25 project teams will undertake the following: 

  • Outline the objectives of the research 
  • Detail the ESA, TPM & Chinese EO mission data acquired and investigated during the course of the Dragon 2 Programme 
  • Detail the in-situ data measurements and requirements made and the joint field visits undertaken in P.R. China 
  • Report on the projects' achievements, final results, conclusions and recommendations 
  • Inform on papers published in scientific journals or conference proceedings
  • Report on the young scientists training 
  • Outline academic exchange programmes developed

 
Abstract Submission & call for final papers

  • If you are a Dragon 2 scientist intending to make a presentation, please submit your abstract online by NO LATER THAN 30 April 2012.

Call for Dragon 2 Final Results’ papers

The co-authored papers will provide the project teams’ results at the end of the Dragon 2 Programme, adding to the results presented at the mid term stage and already published in Oct. 2010 (ESA SP-684).

Schedule

  • This call for papers is now open 
  • Papers must be submitted by 29 June 2012 
  • The proceedings will be available following the Dragon 2 final results and Dragon 3 KO Symposium scheduled to take place from 25 to 29 June 2012 in Beijing, P.R. China.

Poster Session for Young Scientists  

On the afternoon of the second day, there will be a special poster session dedicated to research by young scientists. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters in land, ocean and atmospheric EO science. The session will be judged by Dragon lead investigators. Dragon 3 projects’ Kick Off

The Symposium will also serve as the formal kick off for Dragon 3 Programme . EO data delivery will commence in July 2012 and last for 4 years. The presentations will be made on the successful projects from the Dragon 3 call for proposals. This call concerns the exploitation of ESA, TPM and Chinese  EO data for science and applications development in P.R. China. All of the project executive summaries will be provided in both English and Chinese and will be distributed to Symposium participants at the Symposium. The Chinese and European lead investigators shall undertake the following:

  • Provide the project objectives 
  • Detail the ESA, Chinese and TPM data to be investigated
  • Inform on the project schedule and planning
  • Indicate the level and training of young scientists on the project
  • Detail the in-situ data measurements and requirements 
  • Provide details on expected field data collection campaigns and periods in P.R. China
  • Inform on the expected results.

Day to Day Organisation

An overview of the week’s programme is provided as follows:

  • 3 full days for the Dragon 2 programme final results reporting from Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 June 2012 
  • 2 days on presentations on Dragon 3 projects from Thursday 28 to Friday 29 June 2012.
