Status of the ERS and Envisat Missions

Synthetic aperture radar data from the ERS and Envisat missions is a mainstay of advancement in oceanography in general. A general overview of the ESA's SAR missions, the status of the satellites and data dissemination in the context of oceanographic research and applications will be given. The future of SAR data for the scientific community working in oceanography will be described, as well as the contributions made so for by these missions to the field.
