Radiometric intercomparison of multi-spectral imagers over natural targets

Abstract

A-MODIS, AATSR, MERIS and POLDER-3 data are directly compared at top of the atmosphere (TOA) level for nearly concomitant observations carried out under nearly identical or reciprocal observational geometries. The comparison is carried out over the Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia, and over a site in the Libyan desert. Time series of several years are studied and intercalibration coefficients are derived. The capability of this methodology to identify relative difference in calibration between sensors is discussed together with its detailed error budget.
