Comparison of Softwares for InSAR Applications

As a part of training programme on InSAR applications at our Institute, we have used a few softwares such as ISAR from ESA, Gamma, DIAPASON from CNES, PhaSAR as a plug-in for ENVI, DORIS (Delft University) with SCRIPPS SAR processor, Atlantis Scientific Inc and ROI_PAC of JPL. The capabilities of these softwares and other commercial softwares were already compared by Atlantis in terms of their functionality. But the softwares are not compared in terms of their flexibility and capability for InSAR applications. In our study, we have used Atlantis, DORIS and Gamma for DEM generation with raw data from ERS-1&2 satellites over two test sites with varying elevations. For this work, SCRIPPS processor was ported to Linux and used with DORIS which is available freely to users. We have observed some differences among the processors in processing raw and InSAR data. For one test site, Atlantis and DORIS failed to give proper fringes, whereas Gamma software produced very good fringes. For another test site, three softwares gave good fringes, but with different elevations. It is also planned to present the results of these softwares using SLC data from ESA. Through this paper, the differences among the three softwares in terms of both raw and InSAR processing will be presented.
