MIPAS aboard ENVISAT: More than 6 years of trace gas and particle measurements

Abstract

MIPAS aboard ENVISAT is a limb sounder measuring emitted spectral radiances of the atmosphere since March 2002. These infrared spectra are used for determining global distributions of temperature and many trace constituents in the atmosphere. These distributions are applied e.g. for investigations of the upper troposphere, the tropospheric-stratospheric exchange, the dynamics and chemistry in the stratosphere, the Polar Stratospheric and Mesospheric Clouds, the influence of solar variability on the atmospheric composition and Non-LTE effects in the upper atmosphere.
