The official language of the Symposium is English. Each oral presentation has an allocation of 20 minutes, inclusive of 5 minutes for questions, discussion and change over. Each session will be concluded by a 30 minutes round-table, during which key scientific or methodological issues relevant to the session will be discussed.
As baseline, presentations from personal laptops are not allowed, to ensure a smooth programme running and to minimise transition time between presentations. It is strictly prohibited to take photos and/or copies from laptops and desktops of any scientific material without the expressed permission by the authors.
Each lecture room is equipped with one PC/video projector, a pointer, and one large screen. The software installed on the PC (in English) includes:
- Windows VISTA,
- MS Office 2003 Professional (Power Point, Word),
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 8,
- Internet Explorer 7,
- Windows Media Player 11
The media player is only available with the standard codecs. Use of standard True Type fonts is suggested for PowerPoint presentations. In the case PowerPoint contains videos, please ensure that both files (Power Point and video – MPG AVI) are in the same folder.
Presenters are advised when uploading their presentation in the registration room to check if formulas/animations are shown correctly.
The possibility to present from PCs other than the session room PC is not foreseen.
Upload of presentations
Presenters can deliver their presentation from a CD-Rom or an USB pen in the Registration Room upon registration and can upload the presentation in the Registration Room no later than 2 hours before the start of the relevant session. 3 Computers will be available for such upload: one is dedicated to upload of presentations to be given during the day. The room will be open from 8:00 to 20:00
Upload of presentations less than 2 hours before the relevant session is not advised, however should this be the case, please ask for help at the Registration desk.
Presentations should be stored in the folder corresponding to the assigned session, and should have names easily allowing their identification (avoid names like "ALOS.ppt"!)
For each poster abstract one poster board in portrait format is reserved with a clear dimension of 140 cm (width) x 170 cm (height). All the material necessary for attaching the poster to the poster board is available at the Registration Desk.
It is strictly prohibited to take photos and/or copies from laptops and desktops of any scientific material without the expressed permission by the authors.
The general display time is from 09:00–19:00 from Monday to Thursday and authors are invited to be on stand-by close to their posters during the breaks on the day in which the corresponding oral session is given. A dedicated poster session is scheduled for Thursday 6 November from 16:55 to 19:00.
Authors can put up their posters on the day of their arrival, posters not removed by Friday lunch time will be disposed away.
